The Orlando Magic play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a rut as they’ve lost six of their past eight games, but they will be eager to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 129-124 road win over the Cavaliers on Sunday. D’Angelo Russell led the way with 30 points and 11 assists on 11 of 13 shooting, Karl-Anthony Towns added 29 points with 13 rebounds on 11 of 16 shooting while Taurean Prince chipped in with 19 points in just 22 minutes off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 56 percent from the field and 12 of 24 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter to build an early 24-point lead which proved to be just enough in the end as the Cavaliers cut the lead to just two points with 17.4 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last six games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after getting stopped by the slumping Hornets in a 112-105 loss on Monday. Franz Wagner led the way with 23 points on nine of 17 shooting, Wendell Carter Jr. added 20 points while Bol Bol and Mo Bamba each scored 14 points. As a team, the Magic shot just 40 percent from the field and 14 of 36 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up from the start and trailed by as many as 19 points before they poured in 36 points in the fourth quarter to make it interesting late. Jalen Suggs had a night to forget as he finished with just two points on one of 10 shooting.
