The Minnesota Timberwolves, sitting at a disappointing 6-8 thus far, continue their road trip as they travel to Mickey Mouse country to take on the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. The T'Wolves ended a three-game losing streak with a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland on Monday night. The Magic have won two out of three games themselves and look like a team that may soon be on the rise with a bevy of young and talented players. The opening tap is scheduled for 7:00pm EST.

The Minnesota Timberwolves made one of the more surprising moves of the NBA offseason when they traded for all-star center Rudy Gobert for several draft picks. Gobert was brought in to allow Karl-Anthony Towns to play more of a perimeter game and make the Wolves a stronger defensive team. It has not quite gone according to plan thus far as Minnesota sits at 6-8 through the early part of the season. In fact, coming into Monday night's game at Cleveland, the Wolves had lost three-straight games. The Wolves put an end to their losing streak thanks to 30 points and 12 assists from D'Angelo Russell and 29 points from Towns. The Wolves survived a 51-point outburst from Cleveland point guard Darius Garland in the win.
“Garland is a phenomenal young player and he got super hot,” Minnesota coach Chris Finch said. “When guys like him get hot, there is no shutting them down, so you’ve got to r eally, really work. But I’m not here to be super picky with our guys after a win.”
It was Russell's best performance of the season as he made 11 of 13 shots, including 4-of-5 3-pointers. Newcomer Gobert chipped in with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.

One of the assumed benefits of bringing on Gobert was to be an improved defense for Minnesota. In the teams last eight games, however, they have allowed an average of nearly 117 points per game and have gone just 4-6 in that span. The T-Wolves are now just 22nd in the NBA in scoring defense this season. They are also just 18th in assist to turnover ratio thus far this season. Minnesota will need to shore up its defense and take care of the ball if they want to compete for a Western Conference playoff spot.
