Oklahoma vs. West Virginia Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-12-2022

This Saturday, the (5-4) Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Morgantown, WV to take on the (3-6) West Virginia Mountaineers in the 11th week of the 2022 college football season. Kickoff will be at Noon EST inside Milan Puskar Stadium. The last time that these two teams matched up, Oklahoma won 16-13.

The Oklahoma Sooners are coming into this matchup after falling to Baylor last week, 38-35. The Sooners had it rolling on the offensive side of the field, but their defense continued to give up big play after big play. They will have to show some resistance in this game if they want to take down the Mountaineers on the road.

The West Virginia Mountaineers are entering this one after losing to Iowa State, 31-14. West Virginia was horrible on the offensive side of the field, as they went 2-12 on third down. They will have to score more points in this game if they want to challenge Oklahoma at home.

The Oklahoma Sooners currently sit in 7th place in the Big 12, as they are only (2-3) inside their conference this season. They have also dropped three of their last five games, as they will be looking to turn their season around in this one. On offense, Oklahoma is scoring 33.2 points per game and they are averaging 459.3 total yards. This is the 37th most points scored this season and the 24th most yards averaged per game. They have shown that they can consistently move the ball through the air and on the ground, but their rushing attack has been much more consistent. Oklahoma is running for 219.8 yards per game, which is the 13th most in the country. Eric Gray has been the lead back for the Sooners this season, as he has recorded 902 yards and eight touchdowns. Last week, he ran 106 yards and two touchdowns against the Baylor Bears. Oklahoma is also throwing for 239.6 passing yards per game, which is the 65th most in the nation. Dillon G abriel will start at quarterback in this game, as he has thrown for 16 touchdown passes and only four interceptions. He did throw three interceptions against Baylor last week, though. He will also look to get the ball to Marvin Mims Jr., as he leads the team with 678 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He is also averaging 17.8 yards per catch, as he is a serious downfield threat.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Sooners have continued to struggle this season. They are allowing 29.8 points per game and 435.2 total yards. This is the 94th most points given up per contest and the 112th most yards. They have had issues stopping the run all season, as their front seven hasn't gotten the job done. They are allowing 199.9 rushing yards per game, which is the 118th most in the nation. Luckily, their secondary has been better. They are only surrendering 239.6 passing yards per game, which is the 65th least. Danny Stutsman continues to lead this defense, as the sophomore linebacker has recorded 77 tackles this season and 1.5 sacks. Last week against Baylor, he had 10 total tackles, as he was all over the field.

Injury Report: Jovantae Barnes RB (Undisclosed) is listed as questionable and Shane Whitter LB (shoulder) is out for the season.
