After a thrilling British Open at St. Andrews, many of the PGA Tour's top golfers are taking a week off instead of teeing it up at the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.
But that doesn't mean that you should give the event a miss as well. A number of well-known names are in the 3M Open field, led by Tony Finau, Hideki Matsuyama, and Sungjae Im.
With only this tournament, the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Wyndham Championship remaining before the FedEx Cup Playoffs get underway with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis (August 11-14), this week could be big for a number of players.
The 500 points for the win or 300 points for second could have a big say in how much golf there could be on offer next month for the likes of Finau, Adam Hadwin, and others.
