Here's a breakdown of why I like each bet.
1. Seth Jarvis – Shots on Goal: Over 2.5 (-114)
Seth Jarvis has been a consistent offensive presence for the Hurricanes in the playoffs, racking up five goals in 12 games. He found the back of the twine in Game 1, which was helped by his recording four shots on goal. Jarvis has now finished with over 2.5 shots seven times during the 2022-23 postseason with six of those instances occurring in his last nine games. The Hurricanes are too deep for the Panthers to completely shut down all of their threats, meaning Jarvis is in a good spot to hit the over again.
2. Carter Verhaeghe – Any Time Goal Scorer (+200)
Whenever the Panthers need him, Carter Verhaeghe seems to show up. The former 2013 third-rounder scored his sixth goal of the playoffs in Game 1, putting him in a four-way tie for the team lead. Verhaeghe has now scored in thr ee of his past four games and five of his previous seven. His stellar performance has seen him play at least 20 minutes in each of his past four outings, putting him in a great position to score on any given night. He's also scored in consecutive games 13 times since the start of the regular season. In other words, don't be shocked if Verhaeghe hits paydirt again.
3. Jordan Martinook – Points: Over 0.5 (+110)
Although he fired five shots on goal in nearly 39 minutes of action, Jordan Martinook failed to record a point in Game 1. Having said that, I expect him to bounce back. After all, it was the first time since the first around that he'd be held pointless. Before Thurs day's action, Martinook was on a five-game point streak that saw him rack up 10 points with five of them coming at PNC Arena. As long as he continues generating offensive opportunities and seeing second-line minutes, Martinook is talented enough to tally at least one point tonight.
