The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the 2024 season as the defending NFC South Division champs. They were not only able to win the division, but QB Baker Mayfield and the Bucs throttled the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9 in the Wild Card round and gave the Detroit Lions a run for their money in the divisional playoffs.
The Buccaneers head into the new season with a new offensive coordinator, as Dave Canales left to become the head honcho with the Carolina Panthers.' Liam Coen comes over from the Los Angeles Rams to fill the OC role, and the Bucs received high marks for that move, as well as other coaching hires.
The biggest offseason move was retaining Mayfield, who was inked to a 3-year, $100 million deal. He has found a home on the Suncoast after bouncing around for a couple of seasons. And the team kept stalwart WR Mike Evans with him for the next 2 seasons on a $52 million deal. Evans led the league in TDs for the 1st time in his career in 2023, finding the end zone 13 times.
The Bucs also made some decent moves on defense, bringing back tackle machine LB Lavonte David on a 1-year deal, while shoring up the back end with S Jordan Whitehead, and CB Bryce Hall, who was brought in to compete with Zyon McCollum as a replacement for the traded Carlton Davis III.
