2024-25 Best Bets & Odds for Teams That Have Never Won a Super Bowl

The commencement of training camp provides hope for every NFL fanbase, even those who unwaveringly support a franchise that has never lifted the Lombardi Trophy. 

That unfortunate, even embarrassing, tag applies to 12 NFL franchises who toil continuously for an opportunity to win their first Super Bowl.

Some franchises have banged their proverbial heads against the wall for much longer than others.

I'm looking at you, Detroit Lions, and you, Cleveland Browns.

Of the 12 teams that have never won the Super Bowl, eight have at least a Hail Mary's chance of getting off the snide. Those teams will comprise the focus of this article.  

The other four teams (Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans) will require a Music City Miracle or two to end their barren runs. 

Using the Super Bowl odds, let's Brotherly Shove our way through the eight teams with a puncher's chance of lifting the Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 9, 2025, while offering best bets for each.

Which team that has never won a Super Bowl has the best chance in 2024-25?

Listed in chronological order from when the franchise was founded; chances of winning Super Bowl 59 based on a 1-to-5-star scale.

Lions (Founded in 1930)

The Detroit Lions know a thing or two about heartbreak. They are also all too familiar with the bitter taste of failure. Last season, the Lions won their first playoff game since 1992, ending the NFL's longest drought (and the fifth-longest all-time, right behind the team's previous 33-year winless run from 1958 to 1991).

Despite Lions' fans dealing with the ever-lingering pain associated with coughing up a 17-point advantage in the NFC Championship, positivity pervades Motor City entering the forthcoming season.

Head coach Dan Campbell has instilled a winning mentality into one of the NFL's most talented groups. Jared Goff led the NFL's second-best passing attack ( 258.9 yards per game), while his primary receiving threat, Amon-Ra St. Brown, is among the Offensive Player of the Year odds favorites.  

Last season's much-maligned secondary has been revamped and substantially improved, providing even more hope that 2025 will be the year the Lions finally remove themselves from the non-Super Bowl-winning list.

Browns (Founded 1944)

You can't mention the Cleveland Browns Super Bowl chances without discussing Deshaun Watson. The Browns went all in on Watson, offering him more money ($230 million) than there is water in the Pacific Ocean. 

Browns fans will be the first to admit he hasn't come close to living up to expectations.

Watson played six games in each of his first two seasons in Cleveland, less than a third of the number of women he allegedly assaulted before escaping Houston. Just as the 28-year-old started showing glimpses of returning to his pre-Cleveland form, Watson's 2023-24 season was derailed by a shoulder injury. 

The Browns have since doubled down on their franchise quarterback, bringing in Ken Dorsey in an attempt to reignite Watson's best. The former Bills' offensive coordinator elicited the best from Josh Allen and Cam Newton in the past and will look to emulate t hat success in Cleveland.  

Cleveland's roster is otherwise good enough to challenge the AFC favorites. However, it needs Watson to return to Pro Bowl form to finally bring glory to a malnourished fanbase.

Bills (Founded 1959)

There's no need to pour more salt into the Bills' still-gaping 1990s wounds. Four straight Super Bowl losses represent two lifetimes of misery.

While the gravity of that unprecedented losing run will never wane, Bills fans should be optimistic about what awaits in 2024-25.

Allen, the second NFL MVP odds favorite behind Patrick Mahomes, is primed for a prolific season. The Bills were 7-2 last season after offensive coordinator Joe Brady replaced Dorsey and pushed the Kansas City Chiefs to the brink in the divisional round.  

The Bills lost Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans but replaced him with a few promising options, including the 33rd pick in the 2024 draft, Keon Coleman. 

Allen also has Curtis Samuel, who joined from the Washington Commanders, Khalil Shakir, their 2022 fifth-round pick, and Mack Hollins.

Interes tingly, the Bills were 3-2 when Diggs had at least 100 receiving yards last season and 5-1 when he had 50 or fewer. All five of those victories came after Dorsey was sent packing.

There are unanswered questions defensively, particularly at safety. Micah Hyde hasn't made a decision about his future, and Jordan Poyer left for the Miami Dolphins, providing an opportunity for second-round pick Cole Bishop and probable starter Taylor Rapp.

Bills best bet: AFC East winners (+180 via DraftKings) | Implied probability: 35.71%

Chargers (Founded 1959)

Jim Harbaugh is officially on the clock in Los Angeles. The affable head coach loves press conferences almost as much as he enjoys turning football programs around. He'll do his best to emulate his success during a four-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14. 

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, though. The Chargers are a work in progress and need time to ascend the NFC ladder. Second place in the AFC West would be seen as a success in his first year in charge. 

Let's see if Harbaugh really is the magician most make him out to be. While I expect things to turn around for the Chargers, I don't foresee a deep playoff run in 2024-25.

Saying that, they have the fifth-easiest schedule (tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), so I'm backing Harbaugh to lead his team to at least nine wins.  

While Justin Herbert&#39 ;s plantar fascia training camp injury is a concern, he is expected back in the next four to six weeks, possibly coinciding with their opener against the Las Vegas Raiders. 

Chargers best bet: Over 8.5 wins (-154 via FanDuel) | Implied probability: 60.63%

Falcons (Founded 1965)

The Falcons can accurately be accused of overcompensation after landing Kirk Cousins and drafting Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Jaws haven't entirely closed in the aftermath of that flabbergasting turn of events.

But after being forced to tolerate the ineptitude of Desmond Ridder, you can't deride the Falcons too severely for blowing their wad on two quarterbacks of polar opposite profiles that offer hope in the present and the future.

Say what you will, but at least they're covered if the unthinkable happens to Cousins.

The Falcons will rely on new head coach Raheem Morris' defensive expertise, which currently has edge rushing, cornerback, and safety deficiencies. 

While the Falcons are loaded with offensive talent, they don't have much depth at wide receiver beyond Drake London. Bijan Robin son will look to have an even more impactful season after a superb rookie campaign in which he ran for 976 yards and four scores. 

Falcons best bet: NFC South winners (-120 via FanDuel) | Implied probability: 54.55%

Bengals (Founded 1968)

Will the real Joe Burrow please stand up?

His Slim Shady-inspired hairdo grabbed headlines for a day or two, but I expect the Bengals' signal-caller to remain one of the NFL's headline acts throughout the 2024-25 campaign. 

Healthy and chomping at the bit to get back onto the field, Burrow, according to the NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds, is the second favorite behind Rodgers. He's also among the five favorites to win his first MVP. 

Burrow isn't the only Bengal primed for a colossal season.

Without a peak Burrow for most of the last season, Ja'Marr Chase still managed a career-high 100 catches, amassing 1,216 receiving yards. And he's vying for a massive-money contract extension, which should propel him to even higher levels than his first year in the NFL when he was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year. 

Besides Tom Brady, Burrow is the only quarterback that has beaten Mahomes in the postseason.

That alone is worth its weight in gold. 

While the Bengals are C Jackson Cowart's pick to win Super Bowl 59, my prognostication is slightly more reserved.

Jaguars (Founded 1995)

Avoiding a monumental meltdown and prolonged implosion will be top of mind for a Jacksonville Jaguars team that crumbled last season, losing five of their final six games.

At least Trevor Lawrence will have No. 23 draft pick Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis to launch the ball to this season. While the fresh additions will invariably strengthen the team's 2023 ninth-ranked passing offense, the Jaguars haven't done much to improve their offensive line.

They bolstered their defense by signing former 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead. But I don't feel the Jags have done enough to unseat the Houston Texans for the AFC South crown. 

Being founded in 1995, at least time is on their side.

Texans (Founded 2002)

As long as C.J. Stroud doesn't regress in his sophomore season, the Texans should be among the top AFC outfits. Replete with talent on both sides of the ball, the Texans astutely used Stroud's financially agreeable rookie deal to further weaponize the offense. 

Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon are exhibits A and B.

The former provides Stroud with a primary downfield target, while Mixon will alleviate some of the burden on the franchise quarterback in his second season, allowing them to pound the ground with one of the most productive veteran running backs. 

And then there's Danielle Hunter and Denico Autry, who combined for 28 sacks last season – though Autry is suspended for the first six games for violating the NFL's PED policy. The Texans are the first team to add a 1,000-yard receiver, a 1,000-yard rusher, and a player with at least 10 sacks in single offseason.&n bsp;

And that's without mentioning last season's Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. Sounds like a Super Bowl contender to me.
