2023 NFL Season Saw Increase In Betting Accounts, Transactions

Geolocation company GeoComply this week released data showing a 24% increase in online sports betting transactions and a 12% increase in user accounts for the 2023 NFL playoffs compared to 2022.

Those numbers were even bigger during conference championship weekend, when the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers won to advance to the Super Bowl. The data showed a 35% increase in transactions and a 13% increase in accounts compared to the same weekend last year.

Over the NFL regular season, Cincinnati Bengals fans were the most prolific, recording 67,000 transactions in or near Paycor Stadium, while Arizona Cardinals fans at State Farm Stadium were second with 64,000 . The most new accounts were recorded at the Washington Commanders’ FedEx Field, where an average of 695 new accounts were created per game last fall. The next closest was 438 new accounts per game at the New York Giants’ MetLife Stadium.

Last year’s Super Bowl numbers were stunning

The Super Bowl, which is the most bet on sporting event of the year, is set for Feb. 11 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, marking the first time the game will be held in Nevada. Hence, for the second year in a row, the title game will be held in a stadium in a legal betting state.
