2023 NFL mock draft: Panthers to pick QB Bryce Young with No. 1 pick

The 2023 NFL Draft begins Thursday night in Kansas City and will continue through Saturday. Thirty-one players will be selected in the 1st round Thursday as the newest additions to the league.

The Carolina Panthers pick 1st overall after trading up from the 9th pick with the Chicago Bears.

They are expected to select a quarterback — as many as 5 QBs could be selected in the 1st round.

Below, we bring you a 2023 NFL mock draft with projections for all 31 1st-round picks. In addition, we share the available pertinent betting odds for players, positions and teams.

The Panthers traded up to the No. 1 overall pick. They get the Heisman Trophy winner.

It would be a shock if he were not the pick.

His odds of being the No. 1 pick are:

  • FanDuel: -1400 (bet $1,400 to win $100)
  • BetMGM: -1200 (bet $1,200 to win $100)

The Texans need a quarterback as well and, while many would rather see Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud go here, Levis is the betting favorite to be drafted No. 2 overall.

With Stroud still on the board, the Titans move up from the No. 11 overall pick. The Cardinals wanted to trade out of the pick.

Texas Tech EDGE Tyree Wilson is the favorite to be drafted 3rd overall, +300 at both FanDuel and BetMGM.

The Colts released Matt Ryan in the offseason, signaling they would draft a quarterback. Levis might be the player they really want, but they get Richardson, who might have the greatest potential of all the QBs in the draft because of his athletic gifts.

He has the 3rd-shortest odds to be the No. 4 overall pick at +300, both at FanDuel and BetMGM.

The Seahawks are remaking their defensive line. They added DL Dre’Mont Jones in free agency and brought back DL Jarran Reed. Carter is the best interior defender in the draft.

He is tied for the 3rd-shortest odds (with Florida’s Richardson) to be the No. 5 pick at +350 at FanDuel and has the 4th-shortest odds +500 at BetMGM.

Detroit coach Dan Campbell will get another elite pass rusher to pair with DL Aidan Hutchinson, the Lions’ 1st-round pick in 2022.

Anderson had 27.5 sacks over the last 2 seasons for the Crimson Tide, the most in the country.

Odd to be drafted No. 6:

Odds to be 1st defensive player drafted:

The Raiders need defensive help in the secondary. Witherspoon is arguably the best cornerback in the draft class.

He is the favorite to be the 1st cornerback selected at -200 odds, both at FanDuel and BetMGM.

The Falcons make it back-to-back cornerbacks by taking Gonzalez. They give themselves a great young cornerback duo with Gonzalez and AJ Terrell.

The Bears are happy to take the 1st offensive lineman of the draft, giving QB Justin Fields protection — from a former college teammate.

Johnson is the favorite to be the 1st offensive lineman:

Odd to be drafted No. 8:

Wilson will give the Eagles, who led the NFL in sacks last season, another young pass rusher, Wilson is the favorite to be the 1st defensive player selected:

After trading back 8 spots, the Cardinals add protection for QB Kyler Murray. Skoronski played tackle in college but projects more as a guard in the NFL.

He has the 2nd-shortest odds to be the first offensive lineman drafted (behind Ohio State’s Johnson):

The Texans selected a QB with the No. 2 overall pick and now give Levis the best receiver in the draft class.

Smith-Njigba is the favorite to be the 1st receiver selected:

Having traded QB Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, Green Bay’s projected starting QB Jordan Love will need protection. Jones gives them that.
