2023 MLB Futures: Best Bets For Boston Red Sox
After going 78-84 last season, the Red Sox lost key players and made a lot of offseason signings. How will they fare in 2023?

Three major rule changes will come into play this year, as a pitch timer, shift restrictions and bigger bases will be introduced. The pitch timer helped reduce game length by 25 minutes in the minors last year, shift restrictions increased batting average and decreased strikeouts and bigger bases not only improved player safety, but resulted in more steals and a better product. These changes can and most likely will have major on-field impacts, which makes predicting outcomes even more diff icult in 2023.
“We talked about how this is a new chapter of the Red Sox,” said Alex Cora regarding a recent team meeting, per MLB.com. “We talked about [our players] with rings and Cy Young Awards and quality individuals — Roberto Clemente Award winners. We do feel like as an organization, we're in a good spot. Obviously, the baseball part of it, we've got to get better. But it was kind of like an all-around message of what we're trying to accomplish as an organization besides the baseball part of it, so it was a refreshing [meeting].”
