The finish on Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Chapionship was nothing short of spectacular. Will Zalatoris and Sepp Straka went toe to toe across three playoff holes to decide a winner. It wasn’t the best golf of the week, but it was certainly full of drama. Ultimately, Zalatoris closed out his first win on TOUR with a bogey on the par-3 11th after both players were forced to drop from the penalty area to the right of the green.
Zalatoris moves into the top spot of the FedEx Cup Rankings as the top 70 players head to Wilmington, Delaware for the second playoff event, the BMW Championship. Wilmington Country Club will be the host course and it will be its first time hosting a PGA tournament. We will have to take a look and analyze things on the fly without concrete data to figure out the players who will fit. The only correlation I see on the surface is that this 7,534 yard Par 71 is only matched by those standard at Quail Hollow. Certainly it seems that length will be a factor and, as always, I’ll be looking for some good form heading into the odds drop on Monday morning.
